The great majority of plant fossils discussed in this paper was collected from Lower Yaopo, Upper Yaopo and Longmen of Mentougou Group in West Hills, Beijing (Peking). They consist of 96 species, 43 genera. The Mentougou Flora of West Hills of Beijing (Peking) may be divided into two assemblage.
1.Lower assemblagesThis assemblage found in the Lower Yaopo Formation, may be designated as late Early Jurassic in age. The assemblage consists of 73 species belonging to the Filicopsida, Ginkopsida, Coniferopsida, Cycadopsida and Sphenopsida groups.
2.This assemblages found in the Upper Yanpo and Longmen Formations, may be designated as Middle Jurassic in age. The assemblage consists of 55 species belonging to the Filices, Ginkgopsida, Cycadopsida, Coniferopsida, Sphenopsida and Lycopsida.
