This book describes 12 genera, 110 species. The family Polygonaceae in China consists of some 14 genera with ca.288 species, Wang and Feng, in his paper on pollen morphology in the genus Polygonum in China, examined 44 species and 2 varieties by means of both light microscope and scanning electron microscope. They described ten pollen types. Most palynologists have been trying to study pollen morphology of the Polygonaceae in relation to the taxonomy, but the knowledge on pollen evolution in the Polygonaceae is scarce. The aim of this study is to probe into phylogeny of 28 pollen types in the Polygonaceae of China. The Polygonaceous distribution patterns were outlined, and their distribution center, place and time of origin and way of dispersal were discussed
