The author have been studying wood - inhabiting fungi in Hainan for more than ten years. On the basis of systematic survey, collection and identification, he found that there are 240 species wood-inhabiting fungi in Hainan, among of them 199 species pore fungus, 41 species belonging to thelephoraceae or other wood-inhabiting fungi, 22 species living in the root, stem base of standing trees effecting tree growth, 60 species decayed woood fungus, 52 species medicinal fungus. The book describes their morphological characteristics, living environment, distribution, colore living pictures available to each species.
