1. Jiangsu Area
Jiangsu is bordered on the east by the Yellow Sea, on the south by Zhejiang, and on the north by Shandong. The Yangtze and Huai Rivers traverse the province from east to west. In antiquity the Grand Canal ran north to south through the province. Jiangsu is blessed with a beautiful landscape, of valleys and hills, lakes and moors. Although Jiangsu in history never had a famous kiln, it is unique in geographical layout, in allowing for communication by both land and sea. By the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods Jiangsu was a major center of the Chinese government, economy and culture, and for this reason has a rich heritage of exquisite ceramics from many different kilns.
2. Shanghai Area
Shanghai occupies a large triangle on the southern bank of the Yangtze River delta. It is geographically flat and dense with waterways. It is famous for its development of water transport, and as a commercial port. Due to the heavy traffic of water cargo Shanghai witness trade in the art of ceramics.
