This book introduces the contents, types and methods studying the earthquake losses. On the basis of analysis and deeper studies of the 3rd generation of the Seismic Zoning Map showing the seismic risk of China, distribution of structures and population and their vulnerability to seismic hazards, estimation is made concerning the absolute losses from the earthquake hazard for respective administrative units like counties and cities in the forthcoming 50 years. Also, the distribution of losses due to future earthquakes is mapped for the very first time in China.
