During 1995 to 1997, we carried out a survey on the fishes and water environment of both upper and lower reaches of the river (china’s section), and on the Tekesi, Gongnaizi and Kashgar Rivers, headstream of the Yili River. More than 7000 fish specimens have been obtained and 1204 of them, weighing 5288 kg, have been identified as large economic fish. Together with the specimens, 175 bottles of plankton sample were collected, and large amount of hydrochemical, hydrological and meteorological data obtained. This book is the study and analysis of these firsthand materials.
