Xinjiang Uygur Auonomous Refion lies in the northwest of China, it has a vest territo and is surrounded by high mountains all around,showing a unique terrian which is called"Three mountains surrounding two basins".Xinjiang located in Asia inland,far away from ses,it has a typical arid cliate characteristic,there are numerous rivers in the region.Distinct fish fauna coposition of Xinjiang is created by special nautural environment characteristics,part of the fishes are unique species of China.From 1990s , fishery resources of the area were investigated and studied by Xinjiang fishery institute of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for 20 years, combining the data acquired fro this and previous study, we compile this book. Eighty-eight species of fishes existing in Xinjiang are listed in this book,the fishes belong to 9 orders,23 families and 58 genus ,the book makes a system description from the aspect of orphological taxonomy ,ecological habit, distribution and current aquaculture situation. More than 300 thousands words and 100 fish pictures were contained in this book, providing a certain acadeic value . This boo also has reference value to rational exploitation of various fishery resources, fishery production, biodiversity conservation. It can be used by ichthyologist, persons workng on culture and proliferation of freshwater fishes, fishery management department , teachers and students of fishery colleges.
