The Journal of Engineering Chemistry & Metallurgy (EC&M) is an quarterly published academic periodical sponsored by the Institute of Chemical Metallurgy (ICM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Started publication in 1980, the Journal of EC&M contains all aspects of research and development and significant advances in the fields of engineering chemistry and metallurgy in the country. Its coverage involves multiphase engineering including multiphase reaction engineering, metallurgical reaction engineering, separation engineering, biochemical engineering and petroleum refining engineering, etc.; exploration and comprehensive utilization of mineral resources characterized by exploration and rational utilization of minerals, development of advanced materials, energy conservation and environmental protection, etc.; complex technologies such as pyro- and hydro- metallurgical technologies, fluidization technology, computer application, particle technology; and scientific and technological reviews and communications.

With scientists and engineers of domestic and international institutions as the main readers, the Journal of EC&M is devoted to the promotion of scientific and technological exchange between China and other countries of the world. In view of the fact that the Journal is published in Chinese with English abstracts only and it could not meet the need of our foreign scientist-colleagues, we decided to publish this SELECTED PAPERS of EC&M full in English in an attempt to satisfy the requirements of our foreign friends in better understanding the annual research and advances in the areas of engineering chemistry and metallurgy in China.
