The spiraling whitefly, Aleurodicus disperses Russell, was first recorded from tropical Central and South America, but it is not an important pest there. The incidence of the pest was first noticed on guava in 1988 in Taiwan and in 2006 in Hainan. When discovered, it almost spreaded the whole islands. A total of 284 host plants belonging to 81 families was recorded from China (144 host plants from Taiwan and 184 from Hainan). It occurs mainly on ornamentals, fruit trees and crops. At present, it has not invaded the Chinese mainland. The book introduced its economic importance, morphology and biology, lists 110 natural insect enemies (including spiders and parasitic mite), describes 24 natural insect enemies from Hainan, provided with color pictures, reviews the biological control by using the most important predators and parasitoids, and finally discusses the prospective of its control by natural enemies and application measures, laying emphasis on utilization of the incidentally introduced parasitoid Encarsia guadeloupae and protection of biodiversity. The appendix lists 743 host plants of 109 families in the world, provided with species names, distribution and cited literatures.
