This book is present the first album in China which introduces Beilunhekou national nature reserve area. Beilunhekou National Nature Reserve Area(BNNRA)Situates in Fangcheng District and Dongxing City, Fangchenggang City, Guangxi, China, located at 21°28’-21°37’N, 108°16’E, with a total area of 30 square kilometers. It was set up with the approval of former government of Fangcheng County in 1985, and in 1990 it was promoted to a level of protection zones in the Autonomous Region. In April 2000. it was approved to be a national-level nature reserve by the State Council. The main protective objects of the nature reserve are the mangrove ecosystems.

BNNRA is close to Beibu Gulf in the south and bounded on the west by Vietnam, and covers the 105 kiometers of coastline from the mouth of Beilu River and Wanwei Island in the west to Zhenzhu Bay in the east. The landforms of the coastline includes the coasts of river mouth and open coasts etc.. It belongs to the southern subtropical zone maritime monsoon climate. The total area of the mangroves in BNNRA is about 1 131.3 hectares. The main mangrove communities are Avicennia marina community, Kandelia candel community, Bruguiera gymnorhiza community and Acanthus ilicifolius community etc..Among them Acathus ilicifolius community distributed in a relatively large area. This kind of phenomenon is comparatively rare in China. The main mangrove species are Avicennia marina, Aegiceras corniculatum, Kandelia candel, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Excoecaria agallocha, Acanthus ilicifolius, Acrostichum aureum, Pongamia pinnata, Hibiscus tiliscus, Thespesia populnea and Cerbera manghas etc.. Animal resources are abundant in the nature reserve with 27 species of fish, 84 species of benthon and 128 species of birds of which 13 species are the second class of national protecting animals.
