The Ordos Stratigraphic region covers administratively the main part of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region an parts of Shannxi and Gansu Provinces and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regions, including the Ordos Basin and its surrounding areas, such as the Helan Mountain, Bayanhot Basin and Liupanshan Basin. The Jurassic is extensively distributed and with large thickness in the Ordos Stratigraphic region, which is rich in coal and petroleum resources.
The present researches are made based on new measurement of some disputable sections and the new detailed observation of 36 other sections, particularly a systematic study of the Jurassic of the Liupanshan Basin. This book deals with the Jurassic system of the Ordos Stratigraphic region, which includes the distribution, lithologic characters, facies, subdivision, correlation and geological ages of the strata, as well as the biota, ecological features, palaeoenvironment and their relationship with the oil and gas distribution.
