Report of the 1993 and 1994 excavation of the Nanjing man (Homo erectus) conducted by the Tangsha Archaeological Team, consisting of experts from the Nanjing Museum and the Department of Archaeology, Peking University.Located in Hulu Cave of Mount Leigong at Tangshan, Jiangning County, Nanjing(N320,E1190),the site is 28 kilomenters to the west of the city of Nanjing and about 25 kilometers to the north of the Yangtse River. The local peasants had dug out fossils of two broken human skulls and vertebrates before the excavation. And the small cave inside Hulu Cave, where the human fossils were found, was decided as the area for the excavation, numbered 93. NTX.
