This book is designed for medical professionals in Asia who are interested in learning about the most important fungi that are pathogenic to humans. This is why the text (and accompanying CD) is printed in both English and Chinese. This text is an introduction to the mycosis and thus the material has intentionally been abbreviated and simplified
The text is composed of 7 chapters covering related diseases. Each chapter has numerous photographs which are reproduced as a teaching supplement in a separate CD. At the end of each chapter of the CD is a series of self evaluation questions (with the answers)
A special chapter (#8) is a series of slides and questions to test how well you have done with all the material (yes, a “final “ examination). Chapter #9 is a special chapter devoted to therapy of all the diseases plus a discussion of all the important antifungal agents, both now and those that maybe important in the near future.
The remainder of the book is an extensive appendix containing abbreviated information on : Culturing ,Identification Methods, Media, Stains and Techniques; sufficient information to set up a completer clinical Medical Mycology laboratory; numerous Tables to assist the student in learning the material ; Selected references and Texts used in Medical Mycology.
