The Workshop was focused on four main types of natural disasters:Physical Meteorological and Oceanic; Seismic and Geological; Biological Impacts; and Comprehensive Disaster Management. The workshop identified several key themes for future cooperation: development and continual improvement of comprehensive national mitigation strategies; improvement of environmental monitoring and observation networks, and natural disaster prediction; improved full and open exchange of data and information improved communication systems; and engaging in specific and comprehensive activities to prevent, mitigate and reduce the impacts of natural disasters.
Those topics included in the Workshop proceedings, represent the current situations and latest developments in natural disaster reduction and mitigation both in the United States and the People’s Republic of China.
