The 3rd International Symposium of FIEOS, held during 24-26 May, 2006 in Beijing, China, provided a good exchange platform for experts from all over the world to share their experience in the field of Earth observation technologies and applications.
More than 180 representatives from 12 countries and regions attended this symposium. In the plenary sessions, well-known scientists were invited to present keynote talks on the advance of Earth observations. Eight technical sessions covered the fields from system and architectures to applications of Earth observations, including architecture and systems, sensors, data processing, vegetation remote sensing, landuse / landcover applications, SAR and InSAR, and ocean Remote sensing. Interactive sessions provided opportunities for in-depth discussions. The GEOSS workshop in “The User and the GEOSS Architecture III” was organized on 22-23 May 2006 as a pre-conference workshop in association with FIEOS 2006.
