This volume of the Fauna of Guizhou contents two parts of two groups of insects, the Anoplura and siphonaptera.
These are insects o fmajor medical and veterinary importance as parasites, pests and vectors of animal and human diseases.
This work brings together informations on te historical ovrview, collecting and preservation technigues, diagnosis, morphological chraracters, hosts and distribution of all the known species of the sucking lice and fleas of Guizhou province, China. Keys are given for identification of all the families, genera and species, and line drawings, mainly original based on local specimens are provided to facilitate identification.
In the first part, Anoplura or sucking lice, 38 species belonging to 17 genera and 10 families are included and 11 species have been new records from China since 1970. These include 5 new species, and 3 new genera and 2 new families with one each based on original taxes. One genus and 2 species are recorded for the first time from China.
The second part, Siphonptera or fleas includs 46 species and subspecies belonging to 27 gnera and 6 families. Ten new species, 1 new genus and 3 new subgenera have been recou from Guizhou since 1973. One genus, 2 species and 1 subspecies were new records from China. Two new species are described in this work.
