The present work is a systematic study of Chinese Cicadidae(Homoptera). The history of Cicada classification both in China and abroad is briefly reviewed and morphology, biology and geographical distribution of Chinese Cicadae are discussed in the introduction. The second part deals with the taxonomy of Chinese species of the family Cicadidae and totally, 203 species of 62 genera, 4 subfamilies are included, of which 4 genera and 27 species are new to science, 3 genera and 21 species are new records to Chinese fauna, 2 genera and 12 species are synonymied, 11 species are transferred as new conbinations. All the species are described and illustrated.
