“The Discovery History of Mineral Deposits of China—Volume: Geophysical and Geochemical Explorations” is a fundamental introduction of the progress of development and main achievements of geophysical and geochemical surveys in mineral exploration of China, in which those proceeded before 1949are briefly reviewed. The highlights of this book are the review and generalization of the development of geophysical and geochemical surveys in mineral exploration since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the approaches of geophysical and geochemical surveys in mineral exploration and the experiences and lessons learnt from the processes. According to the general rules of the compilation of this series, the case studies of geophysical and geochemical explorations in discovering new mineral deposits and in finding new orebodies in existing mineral deposits of large-size and medium-size are compiled. In these case studies, the geological background of mineral deposits in question, the processes of geophysical and geochemical explorations, the methodology used and its functions, and the experiences acquired are concisely introduced. All these cases include 61minerals of 7categories, consisting of energy minerals, ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, precious metals, rare metals and rare earth, non-metallic minerals, ground water and geothermal sources. They are condensed from data of 933mineral deposits, in which 387are of large-sized deposits and 546of medium sized; 715are of newly discovered mineral deposits and 218of new orebodies found in existing mineral deposits.
