This book describes 244 species fishes from rivers and lakes in Taiwan. It introduces fishes by Chinese name, Latin name, morphological characteristics, habits, ecology and distribution.  There are one or two pictures  to each species.  The features of the book is as following: the first, it introduces origination and distribution of  the fresh water fishes of Taiwan, the second, it delas with the characters of mountain river fishes in  reproduction and ecological evolution caused by the effects of geography condition of Taiwan, the third, the book discusses  the status of fresh water  fishes in Taiwan and the crisis by environment pollution and ecological devastation.
