This book is the Result of the vomprehensive and systematic spores, pollen and algae research in the west of 124°E of the Yellow Sea, analysing and identifying 943 spores and pollen samples and 154 diatom samples from surface and column sediments and identifying and statistizing 200,000 grains of spores, plooen and algae. The result of the research shows that there are abundant spores, pollen and algae giains in marine sediments and marine palynological research not only provides the scientific basis for dating and relating the marine sedimetns and recovering the environment of the paleogeography but also the useful data about the fluctuation of the sea level, eroded intensity of the continental margin and the material source and transport of the basin. According to the level and vertical change of spores, pollen and algae distribution, 4 spores and pollen and pollen regions and 3 diatom regions can be divided into and 8 spores and pollen zones and 7 algae zones can be distinguished since the te laPleistocene, reflecting that the Yellow Sea underwent the climate changes of warm-cold and humid-warm-cold and dry-temperate, cool and a little dry-warmer and humid and humid-warm-cold and dry-temperate, cool and a little dry-warmer and humid-warm and a little dry-warm and humid and transgressive and regressive processes. Spores and pollen zones 1-4 are thought of as the late Pleistocene, zones 5-8 Holocene, confirmed by Radiocarbon test. As a result of the climate colding and sea level lowering, the continental shelf of the Yellow Sea exposed as "the plain of the Yellow Sea" twice. The book also discusses the problems met in marine palynology and algae study, for instance reworked spores and pollen fossils, the cause of formation of extraordinary palynological assemblage, the density of spores and pollen grains in the surface sediments, the relationship between the amout of herb pollen in the marine palynological assemblage and the distance to the shore, the distribution of spores of pteris and pollen of mangrve and hydrodynamic analysis and the ecological environment of Hystrichosphaern, Baltisphaeridium and Zygnema. 157 genera and species of spores, pollen and algae are herein described, of which species are diatom, diaoflagellates, Pediastrum, Zzygnema, Concentricystes and Hystrichosphaera with 34 plates of spores, pollen and algae photoes, of which 4 plates are of SEM.
