【Introduction】

The Eighth Asia-Symposium on Engineering Plasticity and Its Applications (AEPA2006) was held on the 25th to 29th September 2006 at Nagoya University, Japan. This proceedings contains 240 papers which were presented in oral and poster sessions at AEPA 2006. The Papers were selected from the submissions of over 450 abstracts and 286 full papers, covering a broad range of topics dealing with plasticity in various disciplines such as solid mechanics, metal forming, structural analysis, and materials science. The papers concerned various materials such as metals, composites, polymers, foams, soils, and rocks in the nano-, micro- and macro-scales. Each paper was peer-reviewed by two experts in the relevant technical area.
