This part contains abundant hydropower resources The upstream of the Jinsha Jiang is located in the Hengduan mountainous region in China, where is one of the global hotspot of biodiversity with high species endemism. The middle and lower streams are gradually into the dry-hot valley region where the water drop is geting smaller Especially below Xinshi Town. the original narrow river abruptly becomes wide, and the hydrological conditions change  significantly in accordance, Across the whole Jinsha Jiang, its special geographical location, complicated topography, variable river flow states and diverse climate make up such unique ecological environment that gives birth to the fish diversity. Compared with other organisms, fishes have obvious specialty. Their distribution is in strict accordance with water conditions, So their distribution pattems usually reflect the changes of the aquatic habitat in history The Jinsha Jiang is the upstream of the Yangtze River, the longest river in China. It is generally considered the part from Zhimenda  in Yushu City, Qinghai Province where the Batang River meets to Yibin City, Sichuan Province where Minjiang River joins the Yangtze  River. The Jinsha Jiang is divided into the upper stream, middle stream and lower stream by Shigu Town and Panzhihua City. The Jinsha Jiang stretches approximately 2, 300km, accounting  for 36. 51% of the total length of the Yangtze River, and the water drop is about 3, 300m, accounting for 56.90% of the Yangtze River.
