Low-temperature geochemistry is an extremely important branch of modern geochemistry although it started relatively late. It deals mainly with the geochemical behaviors of elements in nature at less than 200℃ (including room temperature and temperature below zero) and rock and ore-forming processes. Low-temperature geochemistry is one of the frontier subjects involved in earth science in the present world. Introduced in this monograph are the achievement in the past years of pioneered comprehensive research work in which geology and geochemistry of ore deposits, experimental simulation and computer modeling were closely combined while the unique characters of regional geological conditions in Southwest China were also taken into consideration. The concept of low-temperature geochemistry and its research orientation are also introduced in full detail.
The following four aspects of low-temperature geochemical research are presented in the book:
?(1). the geochemical characteristics of quite a number of low- temperature ore deposits or prospects in China.
?(2). the geochemistry behaviors of elements during digenesis, buried metamorphism and low-grade metamorphism;
?(3). the mobilization, transport and precipitation of some ore-forming elements under low temperature conditions: and
?(4). water/rock interaction in low temperature open systems.
This book, characterized by abundant contents, new information, new ideas and new viewpoints, is the first of this kind in China, which introduces various aspects of low temperature geochemistry.
