The Banpo site is located on the second terrace on the east bank of Chan River, eastern suburb of Xi’an. It preserves a complete and typical sample of Matriarchal clan society which existed in Yellow River 6700 years ago.The site was discovered in 1953. With the five excavations from 1954 to 1957. Nearly 10000 relics were unearthed. The site covers an area of more than 10000 square metres which is one fifth of the total square. In 1958, the first museum of Neolithic site were founded in China.It is well known as the Museum of Banpo Site. In order to popularize the knowledge of clan society, “Banpo Matriarchal Clan Society” analyzes the production, consciousness, life style, as wll society system of the Banpo people in a easy way, the sources of its materials are based on ruins and relics from the site and the result of National study.
