There are approximately 2900 species of teleosts recorded in Taiwan. In this book, a total of 1004 species of otoliths beloning to 30 orders, 165 families and 488 genera are presented. The fishes were cllected and gathered intensively from different habits in Taiwan, ranging from freshwater,estuaries, intertidal zone, coral reefs, inshore, open water, and deep-sea. The size of the collected fish ranged from 42.3 mm total lenth for Amoza Canius(Gobiidae) to 3953.00 mm total length for Regalecus glesne(regalecidae), whereas lengths of the archived otoliths were from 0.35 mm for Hippocampus trimaculatus (Syngnathidae) and 37.67 mm for Bahaba taipingesis(sciaenidae).
