The recent and continued influx of exotic invasive species into North America and their subsequent potential dramatic negative impacts on forested ecosystems have resulted in the urgent need to begin to develop a biological contol strategy to manage these invasive species.

Nearly seventeen years have passed since the publishing of Parasitoids and Predators of Forest Pests. In the interim, newly discovered natural enemies in response to innocuous host species developing into economically damaging populations as well as taxonomic revisions have necessitated the need for an updated version of the original 1989 publication. In addition, the original version was only available in Chinese; therefore, of limited use to researchers and pest managers for developing biological control programs in other countries.

Over 50 additional species of natural enemies are discussed in this updated version. Also, the taxonomy of another 15 species has been revised.
