The Beijing Symposium on Differential Geometry and Differential Equations was held from August 18 to September 21, 1980. It was jointly sponsored by the Academy of Sciences of PRC and the Committee on Scholarly Communications with PRC of USA. Those participated in the Symposium were mathematicians from China, USA, Britain, France, West Germany, Sweden, Japan, Canada, Brazil, Italy, etc.

The 100 reports were read at the symposium, 74 from China and 26 from other countries, 80 of which are compiled in the present proceedings with about 1800 pages. Volumes I and II consist of comprehensive reports, Volume III comprises special reports. Included in these proceedings are many of the latest results of researches and new conceptions and methods of well-known mathematicians. Their publication in the mathematical and education circles in various countries.
