The 1982 Changchun Symposium on Differential Geometry and Differential Equations (DD3) was held from August 23 to September 16, 1982 in Changchun, Jilin Province, China. It was co-sponsored by Jilin University and Wuhan University. More than 100 mathematicians from all parts of China and from abroad participated in it. The topic of this session of DD symposia is PDE. Nine outstanding mathematicians were invited to give a series of lectures. Since these lectures are quite systematic in nature, the symposium became, as a matter of fact, a very successful summer institute in PDE. Many seminar talks were also given during the symposium. The number of papers read is 71 and other 15 papers were submitted but not read because of the limitation of time.
