The seventh China-Japan Joint Seminar on Numerical Mathematics was held from August 16 to 20, 2004 at the Zhangjiajie National Park, Hunan Province, one of the most beautiful places in China. About 24 participants from China, including 3 from Hong Kong and 21 from Japan attended the meeting. Among them were 20 invited speakers, 10 from Japan and 10 from China.

The proceedings collected over 15 one-hour invited talks and 12 twenty minutes short communications. These papers represent the recent advances in Numerical Mathematics as established by the Chinese and Japanese scientists in the field of numerical solution of differential equations, numerical algebra, approximation, computational geometry, data processing, etc.
