The Developing History of Chinese Railways(1876-1949)

This book was written and compiled by Professor Shixuan Jin and Professor Wenshu Xu from North Jiaotong University. Professor Jin began to make researches on the railway history of the former China and wrote essays on the special topic at the beginning of 1960s. Then he completed the book of the Simple History of Chinese Railways in 1965. Later, after extensively collecting historical materials and making earnest investigations and researches, a systematical and comprehensive book of the Developing History of Chinese Railways, illustrating the developing process of Chinese Railways, was finally published in 1986 after several years of hard work.
This book expounds the developing process of the former Chinese Railways with abundant and detailed historical materials. The structure is well knit and the contents are comprehensive with distinct point of views, giving consideration to both narrating and commenting.
