The history of Chinese entomology is a new sphere of science, which was established by the author after the founding of New China and for which the author has laid foundation. It has evoked world-wide repercussion since it was published as " Preliminary Manuscript" in 1957. Its contents were cited in many entomological textbooks and monographs. An American scientist from Taiwan even praised it as "an immortal masterpiece". This book has made a comprehensive summing-up, from large amounts of classics, historical records, philosophical works, belles-lettres, notebooks, and some new archaeological findings of the history of sericulture, insect as drugs, insect as food and of the time table of pest outbreaks (such as locusts, borers and the like) and a study of the life cycle, natural habits and elimination of pest insects. The book also gives andto the achievements of theoretical research in the way of insect phonology, insect taxonomy, insect morphology, insect biology and ecology.
At the end of the book there can be found an Esperanto summary, a Chronological Table of Ancient Chinese Entomology and some tables of historical records about the outbreaks of some major pest insects.
