On June 13th and 14th ,2002, the CCIED Western China Forest Grasslands Task Force held the International Forum on Chinese Forest Policy in Beijing in order to help develop a forest policy research agenda in six key areas concerning to the Chinese forest sector and the ongoing reform and restructuring process in China.
This book introduces the process of this forum and focuses on the summarized presentations and recommendations from a broad range of stakeholders, researchers and policymakers. The six key themes of the Forum were forest policy in transition; taxation and fiscal policies; forest land tenure and ownership; forest harvesting regulation; forest governance and administration; and forestry and trade liberalization.
