Author: XIE YUKAN
Language: Chinese
1995; Hardcover; 313,11 colour plates
A serious and comprehensive study of pearl and pearl fishing with the emphasis on the biology of the various pearl-bearing mollusks, this book will be repaired reading for Chinese students of the pearl and fir marine biologists working in this particular field. The structure of the mollusks is drawn in great detail and here, as elsewhere, the reader longs for a translation into a Western language. Even so, there are useful points to be found and the index is in English--sadly the extensive bibliography remains in Chinese and no doubt conceals many treasures of information. Reproduction is somewhat faint in places but on the whole the book is well produced.
