Xinjiang is vast in territory and has various natural landscapes. It provides favourable ecological environments for the existence of ticks. Investigations and studies on tick fauna and its relationship to infections diseases have been lauched in succession in Xinjiang since 1950's , and up to the end of 1995, 42 tick species have been known which belong to 9 genera out of 2 families, comprising more than 1/3 of the total number of tick species known in this country. This monograph is divided into two parts: general account and seperate descriptions. In the second part, such ecological data as the time and place of collecting the ticks and its hosts are described in detail for each species with accompanying morphologic figures and geographic distribution maps.
