The present study is based in a larger part on the collections of the Fan Memorial Institute of Biology. The Institute has accumulated a great number of Cyprinoid fishes of various localities, such as Hopei, Honan, Shangtung, Suiyuan, Chekiang, Kiangsu, Szechuan, Yunnan and Mongolia, which were collected by Messrs T.H.Shaw, C.J.Shen, L.C.Chong and the author during the past four Years
The work thus far done, constitutes the first part of the study of Chinese Ichthyology. As the above mentions are fragmental, the present survey is considered to be only a preliminary one , the continuation of the work is being assumed by the author, expecting to bring out more result in order to widen our knowledge of the ichthyological fanuna of China.
