The present volume deals with a faunal work of the Subclass Siphonophorae of Class Hydrozoa and Class Scyphomedusae collected from the Chinese waters. A total of 115 species are described, belonging to 52 genera in 28 families ( among which 80 species, 29 genera. 13 families of Siphonophorae, and 35 species, 23 genera, 15 families of Scyphomedusae respectively )
This volume is divided into two parts: a comprehensive survey and a systematic description. In part I, the author outlines the historical review, morphology, systematics, biology, geographical distribution and economic uses. In part II , the auther presents a detailed account of morphologicl features, locality of collection, habitats and distribution. The scientific names for a few species are discussed and the keys to all taxonomic categories with 136 figures and 9 tables are given.
