This is the eighth volume of “Fauna Sinica – Mammalia”. It included all mammals belonging to Carnivora, which have heretofore been recorded from China. There are 55 species under 7 families and 33 genera, with 126 subspecies. They occupy 20% of the total number of species of carnivores in the world.
This volume consists of a general introduction to the order and systematic accounts of species. Under each species listed, there is given, besides the nomenclature with synonyms whenever considered necessary, diagnostic characters, description, distribution, ecology, differentiation of subspecies and economic signification.
