The present work deals with the species of the Superfamily Mytilacea found from Chinese waters. A total of 73 species belonging to 23 genera in two families are described. Of these, one subgenus and one species are new to science. This volume is divided into two parts: in part 1, the author outlines the historical review, morphology, systematic, geographical distribution, biology and economic uses. In part 2, the author presents a detailed account of morphological feature, habitats and economic uses of families, genera and species. The scientific names for a few species are discussed and revised, and the keys to all taxonomic categories are given. With 98 text-figures, 28 distribution maps and 4 color plates.
