The 3rd of April, 1992 saw the passing of "the Resolution for the Construction of th Three Gorges Project (TGP)" on the Yangtze River at the 5th session of th 7th National People's congress at the dignified People's Great hall in the capital City Beijing. It was this resolution that terminated the 75-year-old debate on the "Multidimnsion Equation of Higher Order"and brough about a satisfactory solution.
Sinc ancient times, generations of clebrated politicians have devised strategies of constructing th project and blueprinted it. Hundreds and thousands of experts, scholars and technical personnel have exerted painstaking efforts and devoted their whole lives to it, and departed the world with eternal regret leaving the long-chrished dream unrealized. Numerous overseas friends came to love the Rivr at the first sight and they lingered on over-whelmed by the magnificence of the Thre Gorges.
We've been endeavouring to rake the extended history for tracks of the great politicians, experts, scholars, overseas friends and scientific and technical personnel who have put enormous efforts into this gigantic "Multidiminsion Equation of Higher Order" and screen them in a bid to leave everlasting memories of these celebrities in harnessing the River and give inspiration to those forthcoming "Dayu" (a historical figure in China noted for harnessing floods),but the time we had in collcting data for this album was too limited.
Luckily in the boundless "Milky Way", we can spot the sparkling "meteors" left behind by all these celebrities, to whom this picture album entitled " An Epic Undertaking" is to be dvoted. It is meant to commemorate the older generations who have mad sustained life-long contributon to the birth of the TGP and inspire the contemporary "Dayu" who are striving for a splendid future of the Project.
