?The family Noctuidae is the largest family of Lepidoptera. Some of their larvae are the serious pests of plants. In the present work, 2110 species and 24 subspecies of Noctuidae of China are described. They belong to 514 genera which are grouped into the 18 subfamilies as follows: Pantheinae, Acronictinae, Agaristinae, Bryophilinae, Heliothinae, Noctuinae, Hadeninae, Cuculliinae, Amphipyrinae, Chloephorinae, Acontiinae, Euteliinae, Stictopterinae, Sarrothripinae, Catocalinae, Ophiderinae, Hypeninae and Herminiinae.
