Jiulianshan Nature Reserve is located in Longnan County. Ganzhou City, and bounded on the south by Lianping County, Guangdong Province. The latitude of the nature reserve is 24°29′18″～24°38′55″N, and longitude 114°22′50″～114°31′32″E. The total area of Jiulianshan Nature Reserve is 13411.6 h㎡,including 4283.5h㎡ of Buffer Zone, and 7683.9 h㎡ of Experimental Zone.
Nanling which lying across south of China is the watershed of the Yangtze Water System and Zhujiang Water System, and abundant in tertiary tropic and subtropical plants (Linying,1980),and there are subtropical valley rain forest developed at the east of Nanling (Wu Zhenyi,1980). Jiulianshan Nature Reserve is located at the east part of Nanling, north of Jiulianshan, the hinterland of Nanling, and there are large areas of virgin evergreen broad-leaved forests in the reserve. The region is the transition of subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests and south subtropical in domestic and overseas pay great attention to this region. Therefore Chinese Academy of Sciences established a study station of forest ecology in the nature reserve.
This book includes 3 parts, namely comprehensive report, natural resource survey &study, and forest ecosystem study. The second part consists of 5 chapters, 32 articles, written by Ye Juxin, Yao Zhensheng, Yin Guosheng, Liu Kaishu, Li Yingchun, Ji Mengcheng, Dai Nianhua, Chen Yongjun, Ding Dongsun, Wu Xiaoping, and Liu Zhiyong etc. The third part consists of 9 articles. The chief editor of this book is LiuZhiyong.
