The book addresses scientifically, systematically and comprehensively the soils and soil resources of the mountains, not only filling in blanks in the soil science in China, but also being a successful attempt to apply China’s latest world advanced theoretic system of soil classification. Being zonal soil monograph, the book is the first to conduct and discuss soil classification on the basis of the quantitative-index-based diagnostic horizons and diagnostic characteristics, which means a new breakthrough from the traditional zonal soil monographs.
