Anhui Province is in the southeast of China, between 114°45′- 119°45′E and 29°26′- 34°38′N. Total area is about 139, 00 k㎡. The Yantze River and the Huaihe River pass through the whole Province from west to east. The terrain is higher in the south than in the north. Anhui is a very important region for the geology of China. Sinokorean paraplatform, Qinling geosynclinal folded system and Yangtze paraplatform have their components in the province.
This monograph is chiefly based on materials of geological survey on a scale of 1: 200000 and geological resulting by other organizations are also taken in account. 1983 is the closing year for applications of quoted geologic data.
