Introduction to Hexigten National Geopark

The Hexigten National Geopark is located in Hexigten Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is charming and gentle, with full of strange peaks, unique stone, beautiful waters and dense forest. This geopark is a perfect combination of natural beauty and historical relics. It is called as a golden triangle to north of the Great Wall, and back garden of Beijing.

The Hexigten National Geopark is composed of the Quaternary glacial vestiges, granite landform, platform-geosycline boundary, plateau lakes, rivers, volcanic landscape, desert, grassland, thermal spring and plateau wetland. It is a valuable geological encyclopedia and a natural museum for the research of Inner Mongolia plateau uplift, environmental change and human evolution in North China.

Construction Course of Hexigten National Geopark of Inner Mongolia

August, 2001, Geopark of Inner Mongolia Autonomous region by region Government. December, 2001, National Geopark raised by Ministry of Land and Nature Resource People’s Republic of China.

August 12, 2002, National Geopark was opened up by both ministry of land and Natural Resources and Inner Mongolia Government.
