The book provides a comprehensive introduction to metamorphic petrology and metamorphic geology covering basic theory, elementary knowledge and basic skills, an overview of metamorphism, contact metamorphism, dynamic metamorphism, regional metamorphism and extra-terrestrial metamorphism in five major parts. Compared with other similar domestic teaching material, this curriculum introduces aspects that are usefully considered advanced, such as P-T-t paths, buffering balance of fluids, ultra-high pressure metamorphism, ultra-high temperature metamorphism and extra-terrestrial metamorphism as major topics. Buffering, UHT metamorphism and extra-terrestrial metamorphism are little represented in domestic teaching material. In addition, this teaching material emphasizes the use of AFM diagrams for paragenetic analysis of metapelites.
