Multidiscipline studies from regional geology, geophysics and geochemistry have revealed the structures of the interior of the South China Sea in this book. Four geotransects more than 55km which are the Easterngeotransect, the Middle Geotansect , the Western Geotransect and the Northern Geotransect has constructed the lithosphere framework of the South China Sea. Based on the compilation of geotransects , 3-D physical structures including seismic velocity structure, geothermal structure and rheology structure and geochemical structure have been studied.
Chapter 1 Characteristics of regional geology
Chapter 2 2-D lithosphere structure
Chapter 3 3-D lithosphere structure
Chapter 4 lithosphere thermal – rheological structure
Chapter 5 Geochemical characteristics of igneous rocks from the lithosphere in the north part of the South China Sea
Chapter 6 Cenozoic tectonic evolution of the great South China Sea
Chapter 7 Discussion on key geological problems
